LEBENSHILFE ENNSTAL

Lebenshilfe Ennstal (Austria) is a non-profit association, who is providing facilities for housing and personal advancement of people with handicaps in the district of Liezen, which is located in the Austrian county of Styria.

What started as a small parents' initiative in February 1980 with the first house in Stainach is now a professionally organized service company with four locations in Stainach, Liezen, Admont and Rottenmann. In these locations, people of all ages are accomodated according to their individual needs. The range of services extends from early childhood support, family support and employment integration, up to 24-hour support for people with high and highest need for assistance. In our project "Horticulture", young people with handicaps can complete an integrative apprenticeship as landscape gardener. At the AusbildungsFit vocational school, young people are actively being prepared for starting their careers. Based on the partnership with the Austrian Ministry of Social Affairs in the "Netzwerk Berufliche Assistenz – NEBA (Network for occupational assistance / supported employment), it is possible to offer a differentiated and needs-based system to support people with handicaps and socially marginalized young people.

In all service sectors, especially in our day-care centers and housing facilities, our daily work is based on the concept of the "New Authority", which we combine with other proven pedagogical methods.
